A NOTE ABOUT CREDIT CARDS IN OTAVALO Travelers advise that credit cards are difficult to use in Ecuador outside of the big cities. In Otavalo there is one bank with an ATM that works with VISA and MC CIRRUS and Plus and there are two banks with ATMs that work consistently with VISA and MC CIRRUS, but not with Plus! The new Banco Austro works with VISA and MC Plus and Cirrus! Few businesses are accepting travelers checks. Banks charge 3% and limit the amounts to change |
